9 MONTHS (36 weeks)!!!

So we are in the FINAL COUNTDOWN! Any day could be the day that the baby decides to make its appearance! We are going to the doctor's every week and so far so good. The belly is still measuring right on for the number of weeks.....even though Nikki feels like a giant bloated whale! We are almost done with our Bradley Birthing Classes and are getting ready to take our breastfeeding class this week! The baby is VERY active and from the feel of things, it has its daddy's skinny legs! We are also preparing for Nonni Paula's (soon to be grandma) arrival from Switzerland this coming monday! She is SO excited she can hardly contain herself!

We will start posting weekly and will keep the website up-to-date as much as we can in the next coming weeks! Look out for pics and announcements! Woo Hoo!

32 weeks (8 months)......let the countdown begin!

So here we are, in the final weeks already! Less than 60 days until our due date. Everything is going really well. Baby is growing perfectly and is head down still. He/She moves around quite a bit and its new favorite past time is to kick Rudy when we are trying to sleep! The house is getting organized slowly but surely and the dogs are starting to figure out that something is not quite right in thier world. Diane (Ru's sister) was so wonderful to us and threw us a baby shower in Lansing a few weeks ago. It was awesome to see everyone and to share our excitement about the soon to be bundle of joy! We are taking things day by day, going to our birthing classes, and trying to prepare ourselves for the day of delivery. We cant wait to see if it is a boy or a girl!

7 MONTHS!

So we have made it to 28 weeks! The baby is VERY active and is growing like a weed. I should be nice and HUGE by Christmas! We are getting excited about the baby shower in a couple of weeks and are getting more excited about seeing the little alien that has invaded my belly! Nothing really exciting this month....Doctor's appt's, working, sleeping, eating. Oh yeah, and the New Kids on the Block concert....which was AWESOME! the baby loved the bass and I loved to see the boys in action again! Hot as always! It was well worth the 4 hours of sleep I got after the concert before I worked a 12 hour shift! I only wish I could see ALL the concerts on thier tour!

quickie update!

So the last month has been interesting! Around 22 weeks I did sumthin' funny and threw out my hip causing my whole back to spasm and essentially making me immobile. I was on bedrest and the weakest meds that they could give me. After a few days I was able to get up and move around a little, and after about 5 days I was independently mobile! I COULD NOT have gotten through it without Rudy! He was my angel and I know that I would not be walking right now without him! ANYWHO.....the baby is growing every day and has taken up Kung-Fu practice! It is kind of freaky to see your stomach move around- bizarrely a lot like the movie alien! We made it to 6 months and have now started getting organized and baby ready! Woo Hoo!

20+ weeks down, 20+ weeks to go!

We had our 21 week ultrasound today and everything was great! All the organs are where they are supposed to be, the spine is enclosed, the brain has all its parts in all the right places, and the heart has four chambers! Hey, I know, a little overboard but when you see the shit I see working in a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit these things become important to know! We had every opportunity to find out the sex of the baby, seeing as it was asleep and laying still. But at the last possible moment we looked at eachother and said "nah". So Christmas is going to be really good to us this year! Boy or girl we will be extremely happy with what we get!
So I have, of course, been reading all the top maternity magazines. I have been paying extra special attention to the "how to get your pets used to the new baby" articles........ so right now Rudy is walking around holding a stuffed animal swaddled in one of our baby blankets. Harley is more curious than anything and decided that if the baby was in it's bouncy chair then he had to be sitting right next to it in his doggy bed. Maddi only cared about where she was in realtion to me and the baby but actually stepped inbetween the baby and Harley when he was getting a little spastic. All in all we are getting EXCITED! Hard to believe that in a few short months we will have a little one taking over the house!

SURPRISE!

We thought it was about time to let everyone know the good news! We are expecting our first baby together! Nikki is only about 19+ weeks along and counting down the days! The new little addition will arrive sometime at the end of December (hopefully by December 31st) and will join a group of awesome family members who have birthdays in December: Rudy, Landren, uncle Davey, Aunt Banana and Cousin Isabel. We will post pics and keep you up to date as things progress. There really isn't much in the way of a belly yet, but we will let you know!

BTW.... everyone hates us.....we are not finding out the sex of the baby! Our in-depth ultrasound will be on August 15th.
