And it is a.........

GIRL! Aviana Diane Hernandez was born December 25th, 2008 at 1:48pm. She weighed 8 pounds 7.5 ounces and was 20.2 inches long! Of course we were surprised it was a girl and both of us immediately started crying but Nonni Paula almost passed out! She was born with a head full (and shoulders and back) of black hair! She has dimples to die for and the longest eyelashes! She is absolutely beautiful!

39 weeks and waiting....

We are in the final days of the pregnancy. Nonni Paula is here anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild. So far the last few weeks have been the hardest part of the pregnancy. Between the swelling and the belly and the braxton-hicks contractions it feels like the baby is never going to come. It is also the most exciting time because we cant wait to see if it is a boy or a girl and we hold our breath with every cramp wondering if it is the begining of labor! Not much longer!

9 MONTHS (36 weeks)!!!

So we are in the FINAL COUNTDOWN! Any day could be the day that the baby decides to make its appearance! We are going to the doctor's every week and so far so good. The belly is still measuring right on for the number of weeks.....even though Nikki feels like a giant bloated whale! We are almost done with our Bradley Birthing Classes and are getting ready to take our breastfeeding class this week! The baby is VERY active and from the feel of things, it has its daddy's skinny legs! We are also preparing for Nonni Paula's (soon to be grandma) arrival from Switzerland this coming monday! She is SO excited she can hardly contain herself!

We will start posting weekly and will keep the website up-to-date as much as we can in the next coming weeks! Look out for pics and announcements! Woo Hoo!

32 weeks (8 months)......let the countdown begin!

So here we are, in the final weeks already! Less than 60 days until our due date. Everything is going really well. Baby is growing perfectly and is head down still. He/She moves around quite a bit and its new favorite past time is to kick Rudy when we are trying to sleep! The house is getting organized slowly but surely and the dogs are starting to figure out that something is not quite right in thier world. Diane (Ru's sister) was so wonderful to us and threw us a baby shower in Lansing a few weeks ago. It was awesome to see everyone and to share our excitement about the soon to be bundle of joy! We are taking things day by day, going to our birthing classes, and trying to prepare ourselves for the day of delivery. We cant wait to see if it is a boy or a girl!
